Railway ETCS Project
Easier and faster practical test drives on the highly used railway infrastructure in order to increase the use and extension of the environmental friendly railways in Europe – especially in the North Sea region.
Detailed objectives could be:
- Development of an improved ECTS (European Train Control System) approval
- Practical test runs
- Evaluation
- Derivation of guidelines for companies and public entities
Successful demonstration of a faster and easier testing method for the European Train Control System (ECTS).
The railway is an environmentally friendly transport system. However, the infrastructure of the railways is often used and works on its capacity limit. Thus, it needs to be expanded. The high capacity utilization of the railway infrastructure negatively affects the urgently required test drives within the approvals and test drives of new vehicles - only a very small time window can be made available. Thus the railway traffic is slowly developed. However, it is imperative to relieve the road through the rail.
